Novak Djokovic expressed his goal of maintaining his excellent performance in the Davis Cup, highlighting that winning the competition with Serbia is a significant aim for him.
The 36-year-old, who has had an outstanding year with three Grand Slam victories, faces Great Britain in the quarterfinals. Djokovic, ranked as the world number one, emphasized the importance of giving a final push in the last week of the season and hopes to carry the energy from his recent ATP Finals victory into the Davis Cup.
Djokovic has consistently stated that the Davis Cup is one of his major goals for the season. Despite his love for the Costa del Sol, where his brother resides,
he criticized the tournament for being held in the same country for four consecutive years. Djokovic believes the Davis Cup Finals should travel to different locations each year, considering it a global competition.
Serbia is up against a British team striving to win the trophy for the first time since 2014. However, the British team is without key players Andy Murray and Dan Evans. Djokovic acknowledged the challenge, noting that the selected British players, Cameron Norrie and Jack Draper, are both left-handed, a factor he hasn’t encountered frequently.
Despite the difficulty in finding a left-handed sparring partner, Djokovic expressed readiness for the upcoming matches.
